I'm trying to change the Collation on my server as well. I have one app on the server, and a database. I selected the wrong Collation and am having an issue with one of the reports. So, in researching the rebuild process, I am see two things that may different and which one I should follow is confusing.
I have backed up all the databases (task--Backup).
I am understanding that after the databases are closed, and the service brought down, I should run the setup /quite /action=rebuilddatabase with the parameters need to set the /SQLCOLLATION=
Then check the summary.txt, and if all okay, then attach my databases from the DATA folder under the instance where they are now.
Since I am using Mixed mode authentication, I'd include the /SQLSYSADMINACCOUNTS= and the /SAPWD= for the SA account.
